Roadjunky.com was founded in 2004 to fill a niche in the travel guides market. Bored with the bland mainstream coverage that reduced destinations to something to consume, Road Junky set out to restore the spirit of travel and offer a hybrid of a travel guide and magazine with travel stories and tips on health, work, culture and romance on the road.
The Road Junky Wire will be launched in early 2010, an interactive travel guide written by readers of the site, providing a live resource featuring tips, information and advice from real travelers.
The Road Junky Travel Film Festival now takes that same freshness of voice and subjective perspective to the media of film and documentary, encouraging travelers to take the media into their own hands and report back on the world they witness first-hand. The festival will show work that makes us challenge our assumptions, engage us with the inner journey of the artists and allow us to see the world free of prejudice or agenda.
It will also be an opportunity to provide a real world forum for fans of the site who have met only up to now via a screen!
